Faith and Discipleship Resources
Seek to understand and develop your Spiritual Gifts
Applying faith to life involves recognizing and using Spiritual Gifts faithfully and responsibly.
The purpose of Spiritual Gifts is to glorify God and this involves building up the Body of Christ, the Church.
Christ Jesus apportions these gifts as they are needed via the working of the Holy Spirit.
The gifts are designed to help the church grow in worship, knowledge, fellowship, service,
witness, and influence for the sake of God’s Kingdom.
The acronym S.H.I.N.E. is helpful for it describes the working of God through the Body of
Christ. The Spirit Helps Inspire Needed Expression - SHINE
Jesus said that we are to let our light so shine among men that that may see our good deeds
and glorify God our Heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:16)
Brad Parrish and Dr. Scott Arnold have worked together in making a resource that your church
may find helpful. It is a workbook/study called: “SHINE: A Celebration of Spiritual Gifts.”
Our church was blessed by this study, and its impact enlarges as people learn to allow the
Spirit of God to Help Inspire Needed Expression in the life of our congregation and in the
context of our community. This resource is not just another “discovery tool”, it is a manual
for practical implications and concerns related to using Spiritual Gifts responsibly.
This is a Bible Study with discussion questions. Brad and Scott address both the joys and
dangers of how people use their Spiritual Gifts. There are also many personal stories of how
people have used their gifts to bless others that will challenge and inspire you.
