Faith and Discipleship Resources Seek to grow deeper in an understanding and application of the Bible. When approaching the Bible the first question to ask is:   What message did God share with the people in the time that His Word was spoken or given?        This is the context of God’s Word.    The second question to ask is: What did the people learn then that still applies to us today?        This is the understanding or interpretation of God’s Word.    The third question to ask is:  How can we apply the truth of God’s word to our lives today?        This is the application of God’s Word. When preaching I ask these three questions.  I first develop an outline based upon what the passage tells me, what the key principles are, and how it applies to us now.
